Swiss researchers have found holes in AMD Ryzen processor security. AMD has outlined the newly uncovered "Inception" attack in its official CVE-2023-20569 bulletin. Like some of the most infamous CPU vulnerabilities, Inception is a speculative side channel attack, which can possibly lead to privileged data leakage to unprivileged processes.
According to several Reddit, Twitter, and TechPowerUp reports, AMD has massively improved DDR5 memory support on the AM5 platform with a new microcode update known as AGESA 1.0.0.7b. The update allows some boards to push DDR5 frequencies as high as 8000MHz without issue and boosts the optimal 1:1 (UCLK:MEMCLK) ratio to 6400MHz.
Even though its mainstream Xeon line remains intact and available, Intel has already discontinued some of its more exotic Cascade Lake Xeon processors due to tough competition from AMD's EPYC Rome lineup, but many of the Cascade Lake SKUs for desktop PCs and workstations had survived the cut.
In an interview with Gamers Nexus, AMD’s Amit Mehra and Bill Alverson shared the origin story of AMD’s 3D-VCache technology and how the technology became present on its mainstream Ryzen consumer desktop platform — including some of the Best CPUs for Gaming.
Kingston Server Premier DDR5 5200MT/s & 5600MT/s ECC UDIMMs will be launching on June 12, 2023. These higher speeds are in addition to the Kingston Server Premier DDR5 4800MT/s ECC UDIMMs that are currently in shipping status.
The Chinese Powerstar P3-01105 CPU has popped up in the Geekbench v5 online result browser. Importantly, the benchmark's system information section appears to confirm that this 4C / 8T chip is quite certainly Intel-produced, as this Socket 1200 LGA part has an A0653 (GenuineIntel) CPUID, and purportedly uses the Intel Comet Lake architecture.
AMD has detailed its intentions to replace AGESA (AMD Generic Encapsulated Software Architecture) firmware at the 2023 OCP Regional Summit held recently in Prague. The plan is to transition from AGESA to openSIL (Open-Source Silicon Initialization Library) on AMD server and client processors by 2026.
During its Q1 2023 earnings, Intel announced that it is ramping production wafers for its Meteor Lake processors for a launch in the second half of this year.
A purported AMD engineer's LinkedIn profile has exposed the codename and process node for AMD's distant Zen 6 processors. Zen 5, which should hit the market by 2024, is the next microarchitecture up to bat, so there's still a long way to go before we see any glimpse of Zen 6.
Giga Computing, the enterprise arm of Gigabyte, recently announced a couple of servers based on AMD's Zen 4 processors. But, more importantly, the manufacturer confirmed that the successor to the Ryzen 7000 lineup, which offers some of the best CPUs on the market, will arrive later this year.
Intel has completed development of its Intel 18A (1.8nm-class) and Intel 20A (2nm-class) fabrication processes that will be used to make the company's own products, as well as chips for clients of its Intel Foundry Services (IFS) division, reports UDN.
With over three decades of building reliable, high quality memory modules for the world’s largest data centers, Kingston proudly introduces a new line of overclockable server-class memory, Kingston FURY™ Renegade Pro DDR5 RDIMM.
